Beeswax Candle Care and Information
Always Trim wick to 1/4" before each lighting to prevent soot.
To avoid tunneling, mold the warm sides in toward the flame by gently pushing on the outside of the candle . This will melt the walls, utilizing all of the available fuel, and thus extend the overall burn time. It will also raise the molten wax level, and shrink any over-sized flame.
To prevent uneven burning and potential dripping, use a metal tool to redirect a curled or angled wick to the opposite direction. To prevent wick breakage when doing this, be sure to nudge the wick below the level of the molten pool where the wick is not burned and is stronger.
To eliminate smoke when extinguishing the flame, use a tool to drip wax from the molten pool onto the burning wick.
Burn Pillars roughly 1 hour per inch in diameter (2” pillar should be burned for at least 2 hours per session) to ensure the candle burns evenly out to the edge
Do NOT use them in a hurricane or any glass container. The heat from the candle will cause the glass to violently break!
How to prevent tunneling in a pillar
Burn the pillar for at least one hour per inch of diameter. For example: if the pillar is 3 inches in diameter burn it at least 3 hours each time you use it. During each burning while it is warm, carefully and gently push on the outside of the candle pushing the softened wax somewhat into the center of the candle (as pictured). This will help the candle use the wax as fuel, keep the flame bright, and prevent the tunnel effect. Beeswax is a clean burning hard wax that is better for the envionment and for you. If done correctly there will be no drips and all of the wax will be consumed in the burn. Stop in the store to see examples of how beautifully our taper candles have burned!
